True Autumn Makeup Kit
In this post I’m giving you a peek into my professional makeup kit, at all the products I use for my True Autumn clients.
I also show you how to create custom palettes and eye looks using these products.
Enjoy!
Products
Eyeshadow
Ben Nye Apricot, Aztec Gold, Black Plum, Burgundy, Coco Brown, Espresso, Honey, Indian Copper, Mocha, Raisin, Spice, Turquoise, Twilight Sable
Colour Pop Koi, Paper Tiger, Two Birds
Makeup Geek Apple Spice, Beaches and Cream, Buffed, Cabin Fever, Casino, Desert Sands, Dirty Martini, Glamorous, Gold Digger, Mocha, Morocco, Sin City, Tan Lines
These eyeshadows all come in tin pans that can be put into a magnetic palette.
The Makeup Geek and Colour Pop shadows will fit in 26mm wells, and the Ben Nye shadows will fit in 37mm wells. They’ll all, obviously, fit in a freestyle palette.
The Ben Nye shadows can be used both wet and dry – applying with a damp brush is especially useful when using a shadow as an eyeliner.
This collection has a vast range of neutrals, from beiges and browns to golds — makeup companies like making these colours!
What’s missing here is a highlight shade for True Autumns with medium to light skintones. Beaches and Cream may work for the darker among you, but for lighter options I recommend borrowing True Spring’s highlights:
Ben Nye Toast
Makeup Geek So Pale
The shadows I use on clients most frequently are Beaches and Cream, Tan Lines and (Makeup Geek) Mocha. For brows I usually mix Mocha with Dirty Martini and/or Desert Sands, or use Espresso by itself.
Mascara
Covergirl Clump Crusher Brown, Black/Brown
Innisfree Skinny Microcara #2 Brown
Just For Redheads Mascara Naturelle Ginger Auburn, Ginger Red
Blush
Ben Nye Red Brown
La Femme Cinnabar, Natural, Orange, Rust, Sienna
Makeup Geek Chivalry
These blushes all come in tin pans that can be put into a magnetic palette. The Ben Nye and La Femme blushes will fit in 37mm wells. The Makeup Geek blush is larger and so will only fit in freestyle palettes.
A note on Orange: as well as being right at the upper edge of chroma for True Autumn, it’s also a highly pigmented blush, so it needs a light hand. I dip my brush in it and then brush off most of it onto my wrist or the back of my hand, and then apply. Sounds like a faff but it’s quick, and I love Orange on my True Autumn clients, so I think it’s worth it.

Palettes
I’ve written already about how to make your own custom palette. You can use any of the products listed above, in any of the magnetic palettes linked in that post, to create your ideal palette.
To get you started, I’ve put together some example palettes for True Autumn.

Eye Looks
I used the Innisfree mascara in #2 Brown for all the looks below, and Espresso eyeshadow applied lightly through the brow.
These first three looks are simple, easy and wearable. They use 1, 2 or 3 eyeshadows, so it’s up to you how much or how little you want to do.
These next three are more dramatic.
And that’s it! Happy makeup-ing to all the beautiful True Autumns out there.
